Manny Pacquiao's lunatic fringe wrong to attack solid fight scribe Iole

It had to be expected just as night follows day.

The lunatic fringe of Manny Pacquiao fandom is attacking Yahoo's Kevin Iole for criticizing the Pinoy Idol for accepting this Nov. 13 Texas bout against Desperado Antonio Margarito.

What is with some of these idiots? They say the Pope is “infallible” on matters of religion so does that make Pacman the Pope of boxing, does it make him infallible on boxing issues?

And don't think the so-called "Mayweather Mafia" does not include some mentally imbalanced souls because they're out there as well.

I've got news for the lunatic fringe.

Iole may be the fairest, most respected boxing/MMA scribe extant. Not that he needs me to defend him, not in the slightest but I do know him, his breeding and his history.

He is a print media refugee, having long worked for The Review Journal in Las Vegas. Back then, critics would call him a “Top Rank man,” implying that he was a rubber stamp for anything Bob Arum and his minions would do or say.

That's an easy target when you're the leading fight scribe in powerful Top Rank's hometown.

But it wasn't true, it was just another attack by some members of the lunatic fringe or shots fired by disgruntled op Rank rivals.

Ask any promoter not named Arum if they think Iole is fair and they will quickly agree.

Ask UFC guru Dana White if he thinks Iole plays it fair and square, goes down the middle, and he will quickly agree.

Personally, I don't always agree with what Iole writes. Like the rest of us, he has some favorite people and non favorite individuals.

But he is eminently fair and a sound journalist.

He's not wrong in saying that Pacman has the stature to have put the kibosh on Margarito as an unsuitable opponent, especially after California tuned the Mexican fighter away.

It would've been a breath of clean, fresh air for the sport if Pacquaio had taken the high road and told Arum to find another foe.

I don't know whether Iole's attackers are pistachios, walnuts or mixed assorted.

I just know they are nuts.
