It is difficult to know which is more stomach-churning, Floyd Mayweather Jnr's cannibalistic - as well as racist - rant at Manny Pacquiao or his greasy apology for an apology.

Mayweather is now claiming that he was only joking around on the video in which he threatens to 'chop up' a portion of Manny Pacquiao's anatomy with 'some rice' and 'cook that mother-f....r with some cats and dogs.'

'I was just having fun,' says Mayweather of a tirade in which he also called his Filipino nemesis a 'yellow midget.'

Ah, what a sense of humour. Although whether the corporate sponsors of boxing's self-styled Money Man are amused has to be open to question.

Concerns for those multi-million-dollar contracts may well have prompted Mayweather to add: 'I apologise. Forgive me for what I said.'

He then goes on to insist 'I don't have a racist bone in my body,' citing the various nationalities among his bling-laden entourage of yes-men.

Really? So how would Junior have reacted if Pacquiao had replied with stereotype slurs about African-American foods?

Fortunately for boxing - which needs the latest outrage from this obnoxious loose-cannon like a hole in a saucepan - the newly elected Philipines congressman has too much class to ladle more poison into Mayweather's stinking pot.

The Pacman says he is simply concentrating on his forthcoming fight against Antonio Margarito, in which he will attempt the unprecedented feat of winning his eighth world title in different weight divisions.

Mayweather, meanwhile, says he has no intention of fighting anyone until he has finished a year's holiday.

Quite how he intends to dispute Pacquiao's eminence as the greatest pound-for-pound boxer on the planet while declining to practise his profession is not explained.

We can only assume that Mayweather is delaying the prize-ring's first $200million mega-fight in expectation that age and Pacquiao's political duties in Manilla will take the lacerating edge off the one phenomenon capable of destroying the unbeaten record which he seems to prize above his dignity.

Either that or he hopes Pacquiao will be so offended by his insults that he will refuse to share a ring with so odious a character.

The latter seems the more likely, since that mention of pet animals is a reference to Pacquiao's father once being forced to kill and cook a dog to feed his starving, poverty-stricken family.

Mayweather also reignites the drugs controversy he provoked by demanding that Pacquiao submit to random blood tests if they ever engage in the one fight the world wants to see above all others.

He does so, even though Pacquiao has agreed to Olympic standard monitoring, by accusing him of taking 'power pellets.'

Then, just for good measure, he warns his critics: 'Once I come off vacation we gonna cook that poochie chump. So when I kick his midget ass I don't want y'all jumping on my d...k. You'd better get on the bandwagon now, before I stomp the midget and make him make me a sushi roll.'

Pass the sick-bag.

PS: There is one decent segment in the Money Man's faux-apology tape. The body of John Arum, 49-year-old elder son of Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum - and a dedicated enviromental attorney as well as an experienced hiker and climber - has been found on a mountain-side in a national park near Seattle.

Even Mayweather joins us in expressing our condolonsces to a grieving boxing family.
